What is my bitcoin address and how do I use it?

Your multi-currency spending and savings accounts are capable of sending and receiving funds in any currency, including bitcoin. However, if you are receiving a payment or making a transfer to yourself from an account outside of Xapo, you can only receive funds in bitcoin. This is to ensure that only safe and trusted transactions through the blockchain reach your account. Once you have received your funds in bitcoin, you can exchange your balance for any other currency you would like.

You can find your receiving address using the Xapo app (Android or iPhone) or a web browser.

How to find your receiving address the Xapo app (Android)

1. Open the Xapo app and log in to your account.

  • Select the My Money tab.
  • Select the account you would like to share your bitcoin address for by toggling the account name at the top.
If you do not have multiple accounts, you can proceed to step 2.

2. Tap at the top-right corner to open your menu.

  • Select Account settings to proceed.

3. Tap the Bitcoin address tab.

  • You can now view your address, which is the alphanumeric code below your QR code.
  • You can select Copy to save this code to your clipboard or Share to open up your app-sharing options.
  • The QR code can also be scanned by another user's phone to capture the code directly.

Once you have obtained the address and want to receive a payment, simply share your address with another person and they can send funds directly to this address. Similar to an email address, there is no risk of sharing this information with other users. Xapo uses multi-signature addresses to keep your bitcoins safe.

How to find your receiving address using the Xapo app (iPhone)

1. Open the Xapo app and log in to your account.

  • The QR code can also be scanned by another user's phone to capture the code directly.
