How do I change or reset my password?

When you create a Vault or are invited to access a shared Vault for the first time, you create a password associated with your account. While your PIN is the primary code you use to for actions such as logging in to your account and approving transactions, your password is solely used as an extra security measurement for making a retrieval out of your Vault.

If you've encountered a request to enter your password but have forgotten it, you can reset it in order to access your Vault's funds. Please note, however, that the process will take 24 hours to complete upon initiating.

You can reset your password using the Xapo app (Android or iPhone).

How to reset your password using the Xapo app (Android)

1. When making a retrieval from your Vault, you will be prompted to enter your password.

  • Tap Forgot password? at the bottom of your screen.
  • After the confirmation notification appears, tap Ok to exit this screen.
  • An email will be sent to you within 24 hours to reset your password.

2. Check your email inbox.

  • Tap Confirm Password Reset to continue.

3. Type your new password in.

  • Your password must be 8 characters and long and not repeat your previous password.
  • After typing in your password again to confirm, tap Set New Password.

4. Now that you've successfully changed your password, you can return to the app to complete your Vault transaction.

  • Tap Go to Xapo to launch the Xapo app.

How to reset your password using the Xapo app (iPhone)

1. When making a retrieval from your Vault, you will be prompted to enter your password.

  • Tap Forgot password? at the bottom of your screen.
  • After the confirmation notification appears, tap Ok to exit this screen.
  • An email will be sent to you within 24 hours to reset your password.

2. Check your email inbox.

  • Tap Confirm Password Reset to continue.

3. Type your new password in.

  • Your password must be 8 characters and long and not repeat your previous password.
  • After typing in your password again to confirm, tap Set New Password.

4. Now that you've successfully changed your password, you can return to the app to complete your Vault transaction.

  • Tap Go to Xapo to launch the Xapo app.
