How do I add money through a bank transfer?

Depending on your country of residence, you will have a different variety of options of bank transfers available unique to you. Payment methods are subject to availability within your country, and the only payment methods that Xapo currently offers in your area will be those displayed on your screen.

There are two types of transfers:

  • Local bank transfers: These are processed through your bank by a payment processor. You complete your order by submitting your bank information.
  • Domestic and international wire transfers: These are processed through your bank with a wire transfer. You complete your order by sending this wire with your bank directly.

While each option may have different transaction limits and fees, processing times, and cancellation policies, which you can find in our help center or directly on your order screen within the Xapo app.

You can add money through a bank transfer using the Xapo app (Android or iPhone) or a web browser.

How to add money through a bank transfer using the Xapo app (Android)

1. Open the Xapo app and log in to your account.

  • Select the My Money tab.
  • Tap Add at the top of your screen.

2. Choose a method to add money.

  • Select Bank transfer to proceed.

3. Select your preferred payment method.

The options displayed on this screen will vary depending on your country of residence. For each option, you will be able to view the currency to be purchased, processing fee, and processing time.

4. Enter the amount you would like to add.

  • Tap Next to continue.

5. Review and confirm your transaction.

  • On the summary screen, you will see the following:
    • Amount to add
    • Processing time
    • Processing fee (amount and %)
    • Total purchase amount
  • Tap Go to Checkout (for local bank transfers) or Go to instructions (for wire transfers) to proceed to your payment. Otherwise, tap Back to My Money to cancel the transaction

How to add money through a bank transfer using the Xapo app (iPhone)

1. Open the Xapo app and log in to your account.

  • Select the My Money tab.
  • Tap Add at the top of your screen.

2. Choose a method to add money.

  • Select Bank transfer to proceed.

3. Select your preferred payment method.

What next?

Depending on your selected payment method, you will be prompted to make a payment through either:

  • a payment processor
  • or a wire transfer

Complete your order through a payment processor:

If you are prompted to make a payment through a payment processor, you will see instructions to conduct a bank transfer with our partnered payment processors using your online bank credentials.

  • Enter your name, your bank, and the email address registered with your Xapo account
  • Tap Proceed and you’ll be directed to the website of the payment processor you’ve chosen to complete your order
  • Once you’ve been redirected, follow the final prompts provided by the payment processor's website.

Complete your order through a wire transfer:

Now that you've created your order, the next step is to send a wire transfer to complete your order following the payment instructions provided under Payment Instructions. Your payment instructions should provide you with three key pieces of information:

  • Payment Details: You will find the exact amount to transfer here.
  • Beneficiary Information: This is the recipient name and address where you will be sending your wire transfer to.
  • Bank Information: This is Xapo's bank information that will be required for you to complete your transaction.

Here are some additional tips to ensure that your wire transfer is completed correctly:

  • Make sure to send the exact amount owed as well as any applicable fees on your end (your bank will notify you of any fees they may charge). Your account will be credited with the exact amount we receive.
  • You must initiate payment within the next 24 hours otherwise conditions for this order may change without advance notice.
  • As a reminder, the name on your bank account must match the name registered to your Xapo account. Otherwise, the payment may be delayed or rejected and will result in lost transaction fees.
  • Please also include the reference code (exactly as shown) if given the ability to write a note with the payment.

If you correctly follow the payment instructions, your funds will be available as soon as the payment has been received and processed by our team! Please note that wire transfers can generally take up to 72 business hours, depending on your bank's processing times. After Xapo has received the payment for your order, the funds will be released accordingly.
