How do I retrieve money from my Vault into my spending account?
This article is designed for users residing outside of the U.S. only.
If you are a U.S. resident, please use this article:

If you would like to retrieve money you have previously deposited into your Vault, you can do so by moving it back into any of your spending accounts. Please note that retrievals take 2 hours to complete once initiated, and 48 hours to process into your account.

You can retrieve money from your Vault using the Xapo app (Android or iPhone) or a web browser.

How to retrieve money from your Vault using the Xapo app (Android)

1. Open the Xapo app and log in to your account.

  • Select the My Money tab.
  • Toggle the account name at the top of your screen to select the Vault you would like to retrieve your funds from.
  • Enter your 4-digit PIN.

All Vaults will be specified with a icon.

2. Select 'Retrieve' to continue.

  • On the next screen, select the spending account you would like to retrieve your funds into.
  • Tap Next to continue.

3. Enter the amount you would like to retrieve.

  • You can also tap Use full balance to retrieve your entire balance.
  • If you have multiple balances in your Vault, you can toggle the currency to select a different balance to retrieve.
  • Tap Next to initiate your transaction.

For BTC retrievals, the minimum requirement is 0.01 BTC. There is no minimum with other world currencies.

4. Check your email inbox for the initial confirmation message.

  • Within 1-2 minutes, you will receive a confirmation email titled 'Xapo: Vault Retrieval Initiated'. No action is needed here.
  • The next email will be sent to you within 2-3 hours to that will require your action. Please wait for this email to be sent to continue.

5. Within the next 2-3 hours, check your email inbox for the second confirmation message.

  • You will receive another email titled 'Xapo: Confirm Vault Retrieval'. Open this message, and tap Confirm Vault Retrieve.
  • On the next screen, tap Yes, Confirm Transaction to proceed with your retrieval.

6. Go back to your mobile app and check your activity tab.

  • Select the pending transaction requiring your confirmation.

7. Confirm your transaction.

  • Review your transaction details and tap Confirm to finalize your retrieval.
  • As an extra measure of security, enter your PIN and password.
  • As a reminder, your alphanumeric password is different than your 4-digit PIN.
  • If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it by tapping Forgot password? at the bottom of your screen.

8. You're all set!

Once you have entered your password, retrievals take up to 48 hours to process. You will receive a notification when the money has been deposited back into your spending account.

How to retrieve money from your Vault using the Xapo app (iPhone)

1. Open the Xapo app and log in to your account.

  • Select the My Money tab.
  • Toggle the account name at the top of your screen to select the Vault you would like to retrieve your funds from.
  • Enter your 4-digit PIN.

How to retrieve money from your Vault using a web browser

1. Log in to your Xapo account.

  • Select the My Money tab.
  • Toggle the account name at the top of your screen to select the Vault you would like to retrieve your funds from.

2. Verify your Vault access on the Xapo app.

  • As an additional measure of security, accessing your Vault requires approval on your mobile app. A notification will be sent to your phone to confirm.
  • If you have not received the notification, you can click Send again.
  • After entering your 4-digit PIN, switch back to your web browser.

3. After entering your Vault, select the 'Retrieve' tab.

  • On the next screen, enter the amount you would like to retrieve.
  • You can also click Use full balance to retrieve your entire balance.
  • If you have multiple balances in your Vault, you can toggle the currency to select a different balance to retrieve.
  • Click Next to initiate your transaction.
