How do I upload and send my documents for my account verification?

In order to start using the features of your Xapo account, we must first verify your account. This verification is required for us to legally operate as a business in the countries where we are based. To verify your account, we'll need two critical pieces: 1) an official photo ID, and 2) proof of address in your name.

Documents that don't fulfill the requirements will be rejected. Before you start this process, please make sure you are fully aware of our document requirements.

Once you have completed this process, you'll be able to use all of the features of your Xapo account!


You can upload your account verification documents using the Xapo app (Android or iPhone) or a web browser.

How to upload your account verification documents using the Xapo app (Android)

Open the Xapo app and log in to your account.

  • Select the Profile tab.
  • Tap Start Verification to launch the verification process.
Verify your personal information.
  • Enter the following:
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Birthdate
    • Country of residence
  • After verifying all of this information is correct, tap Continue

Make sure that the information you enter matches exactly with the ID you'll provide in the next step.

Verify your ID details.
  • Select the country your ID is issued from.
  • Enter the ID number provided on your document.
  • Select the type of ID.
  • Tap Continue.
Submit your ID document.
  • Please ensure that the document:
    • Displays your full name and a clear photo
    • Shows your date of birth
    • Has both an issue date and (non-expired) expiration date
    • Fulfills all of the document requirements.
  • Tap Take Photo to capture and upload your photo of your ID.
Verify your address information.
  • Enter the following:
    • Country of residence
    • City
    • Address
    • Postal code
  • Tap Continue.
Submit your proof of address document.
  • Please ensure that the document:
    • Displays your full name
    • Matches the address provided in the previous step
    • Is less than 3 months old
    • Fulfills all of the document requirements.
  • Tap Continue to capture and upload your photo of your proof of address.

Make sure your photo captures the whole document! Partial photos will be rejected.

Your verification is now in progress.

Our compliance team will review your information and will contact you once your account is ready!

Open the Xapo app and log in to your account.

  • Select the Profile tab.
  • Tap Start Verification to launch the verification process.

Verify your personal information.

  • Enter the following:
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Birthdate
    • Country of Residence
  • After verifying all of this information is correct, tap Next.

Make sure that the information you enter matches exactly with the ID you'll provide in the next step.

Our compliance team will now review your information and your account should be set and ready shortly!
