Why do I need to provide a photo of myself during the sign-up process?

At Xapo, we take the security of your account and funds very seriously. The photo verification requirement is a measure of fraud protection taken by Xapo in order to not only verify your identity, but to also authenticate your future transactions and protect your assets.

In order to complete the sign-up process to create and verify your Xapo account, we request our users to take a photo to confirm your identity.

In addition, whenever we have a concern about a transaction, we may ask you to upload a current photo of yourself to verify your identity and help us confirm it was the owner of the Xapo account who made the transaction. We then compare this photo with the photo and ID you provided during the sign-up process.

We thank you for understanding the need for this added measure of security. You can be rest assured that your photos will not be used for any other purposes except for the verification of your account and transactions, and will be kept just as safe as your money.
